The Famous Bulgarians: Engr. Koicho Mitev
Ten is the magic number that will allow you to understand every language as soon as you hear it!
Any fans of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy? Well, for those who, like me, haven’t read it, apparently there’s some little Babylonian fish things that you plug into your ears, allowing them to feed off your brain waves, and they translate every language to you as soon as someone utters the words by transmitting telepathic signals back to your brain. Well Engr. Mitev’s invention is futuristic, but not as creepy as Babylonian fish. It all started on a hot august day, when Koicho Mitev was at the Patent Office on business and somehow ended up in the same room as the Chinese commercial ataché. As they did not speak any of the same languages, it was extremely difficult and rather comical for them to try to understand each other by frantically waving their arms around trying to make comprehensive hand gestures. This led the Bulgarian engineer to wonder if there could be an easier way to get around this issue. And just like that, out of a coincidental, seemingly insignificant encounter, a revolutionary idea that gained scientific discovery status was born. Apparently all languages, even if they have had no historical connection whatsoever, consist of exactly 10 parts of speech. Ten commandments, ten fingers, ten toes… ten parts of speech. The idea is that all phonetic sounds and, therefore, all words can be turned into numerical code and, using the power of technology, translated into another language immediately. “Pf.. Google translate did that ages ago!” you say… Oh, but wait, there’s more! This method takes into account the context and applies the correct word that corresponds to the meaning in that specific case. No more “I can’t see two”s and other idiom-ic mix-ups. Get it? Idio-M-ic! Hahahapleaselaughatmyjokesahahahah
